SFTP done at the speed of thought.
A fast, keyboard-friendly SFTP & FTP client for macOS.
Dual-pane. Unlimited tabs. Resumable. Free.
Version 1.1.0 · macOS 10.13+ · First-launch instructions ↓
First launch on macOS
Zyp isn't notarized with Apple yet (that costs $99/yr — soon). To spare you the Sequoia "cannot verify" dialog, the DMG ships with a one-click installer.
Recommended 10 seconds
- Open the downloaded .dmg.
- Drag Zyp onto the Applications shortcut.
- Double-click ① Install & Launch.command.
A Terminal window will open, strip the "downloaded from the internet" flag Safari/Chrome added, and launch Zyp. From then on Zyp opens like any other app.
Prefer to type it yourself?
- Drag Zyp.app to Applications.
- Open Terminal and paste:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Zyp.app
open /Applications/Zyp.app
Same effect as the .command file — clears quarantine, launches Zyp.
Built to get out of your way.
Dual-pane, always
Local on the left, remote on the right. F5 / F6 to move files. Just like the classic clients you already know.
Unlimited remote tabs
Open as many servers as you want in parallel. Right-click any file → Copy to <other tab> — Zyp bridges the transfer for you.
Smart resume
Interrupted a 4GB upload? Zyp picks up from the last byte on both SFTP (offset streams) and FTP (REST / APPE).
Edit remote files
Right-click → Edit externally…. Opens in your system editor, auto-uploads on every save.
Bookmarks & search
Star any local or remote folder for one-click jumps. Recursive name search, capped so it stays snappy on huge trees.
Compare & sync
Diff a local folder against a remote one. Filter by status, cherry-pick, and push either way.
Archive transfers
Download a whole tree as one .zip / .tgz — packed on the server. Upload & extract in one step.
Queue controls
Pause, resume, prioritize, retry-failed. Every progress bar tells you how many bytes are left and how fast.
Keyboard-first
Everything runs from the keyboard. Space to preview, / to filter, ⌘F to search, arrow-keys to move.
Download Zyp
Native Electron build. macOS only for now. Windows & Linux coming.
Not sure which one? Apple menu → About This Mac. If it says "Chip: Apple M…" pick Apple Silicon; otherwise pick Intel.
